Alright, Greg heard back from blip. Their response is on our website: www.dawnsomewhere.com/2013/01/…

Essentially, they said they wont be giving our account back. For those who submitted requests on our behalf, thank y'all for your support, but complaints don't change these policies unfortunately. While our stuff legally falls under 'fair use' laws, Blip has their own interests to look after and they don't have the time to verify everything. Essentially we're guilty until proven innocent, and the burden of proof is on us, the accused, not the accuser. That's just the internet landscape we live in nowadays.

That said, we will certainly find another method of hosting the mentally advanced series on our site; Y'all need not worry. If you find yourself going through withdrawals however and need to watch an episode of the mentally advanced series that is blocked you can download any/all of the episodes from the link posted on our forum here: www.dawnsomewhere.com/forum/?m…

be sure to thank DaftMink on the thread for going to the trouble of downloading and hosting the episode files.

So, I've been working on a little animation involving fluttershy that was going to serve as a redirect video for each of the old episodes. Since we currently don't have a host site however, we don't yet have a use for the animation. Since Greg's been doing so much research into copyright law recently, he's thinking of doing a short documentary that would feature the fluttershy animation that would give an overview of internet copyright issues as well as give tips. So be looking forward to that eventually.

I should be starting on the Aurora short some time soon - hopefully by the end of next week!

It figures something as bad as this happens when the series finally starts back up again. Really hope you guys find a reliable video host soon.

You would think Blip would be aware of how adversely their own interests are served by appearing to be fellating copyright holders rather than supporting users.

If it helps in your search for a new video-hosting site, you guys could try Dailymotion dot com. I'm not sure if you can share videos from that site on other sites such as your own dawnsomewhere, but it might be worth a try.

Also, I must say I'm surprised about Blip's decision not to support you guys. I know Youtubers NTom64 and Thehelldragon (both of HellfireComms) had some issues with YT, but they've got lots of videos on Blip. Kinda strange about the similarity in the situations here (though the HC guys did get their Blip a few years back, so that might explain their case).

Just trying to help out.

Boo-sucks. This is exactly what everyone was afraid of with SOPA/PIPA - the suppression of small, just-starting-out content creators in favor of large corporations' intellectual property rights. Fandom just ain't what it used to be.

Dude it sucks about the Mentally Advanced Series. However, a doc on copyright law would be awesome for all of us to know, as all of us doing fan art are already in a grey area. The better informed we all are, the better.

Best of luck with getting the show a new home. If you guys ever need anything just lemme know xD

That's sad to hear. Still, thank you for putting the episodes for download.
Good luck dealing with the copyright issue and I'm looking forward to this documentary.

At least Rainbow Dash Presents will always be safe since it's your artwork rather than dubbed episode clips, right?

yes, as long as Hasbro doesn't start taking down videos based on character likeness and names - which they have not done. It's just episode footage they care about.

That sucks. I would never have thought Blip would deny you guys your stuff. At least RDP is fine since it doesn't use actual content from the show, but it still seems pretty stupid that an abridged series can't be put up on it. I thought it was just Youtube that was bad with it.
